Join the family of Care Givers who provide quality care to Abused, Neglected and Unwanted Donkeys in Western Canada. The Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge is a Registered Charity currently caring for over 100 Rescued Donkeys ranging in all ages and health condition.

This position can provide the opportunity of having a Career in Animal Welfare and Rescue.
Skills and Requirements
- A Herd Health Assistant will work each day providing a Clean Home for the Donkeys which includes picking the barns and putting down clean bedding, and cleaning water troughs and salt bins.
- A Herd Health Assistant will assist the Farm Manager with formulating Feed 3 times a Day.
- A Herd Health Assistant will assist the Farm Manager with Farrier, Medicine and Worming Protocols, Hoof Abscess Treatments, Maintaining Accurate Donkey Health Records and Grooming and Handling of the Donkeys, Herd Health Assistant must be able to recognize certain Equine Health Issues. A Herd Health Assistant must be able to work alone and in a team and follow written and verbal instructions. Equine Knowledge is an asset however some training is available. This is a physically demanding job that requires being able to sit, kneel, stand, lift 50 bales of Hay/Straw, Feed Bags and walk throughout the farm each day.The use of Farm Equipment including Manure Forks, Wheelbarrows and Tractors is mandatory.The use of some medical tools will be expected with regards to the health care of the Donkeys.This work is both Indoors and Outdoor in all weather 5 days a week including Weekends, Holidays and year round.
